Dance theater will move you

A few years ago, a friend who was really into modern dance invited me to a dance concert at Wolf Trap. I didn't know much about dance as an art form so I was excited for my first exposure. That night had a near life-changing affect on me, particularly a performance of "Caught," which was originally choreographed by David Parsons.

The sheer beauty of the bodies and the impressive physicality of the performances that night thrilled me. Last night's Edgeworks Dance Theater gala reminded me, however, that dance (and art in general for that matter) is more than just something pretty to look at. Dance can break down stereotypes, it can inspire and move us to greater things!
