The Dirty Three at Sixth and I Historic Synagogue September 23

Hailing from Australia, instrumental rock trio The Dirty Three, visit the Sixth & I Historic Synagogue this Sunday, September 23 in support of their seventh studio album, Toward the Low Sun.
Aussie rock historian, Ian McFarlane, describes the band as having a "rumbling, dynamic sound," and featuring "improvisation, industrial rock". Still, while you may not have heard of them, you've most certainly heard of the artists they've worked with, including Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, PJ Harvey, Grinderman, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, Nina Nastasia, White Magic, Bill Callahan, and Cat Power. Additionally, violinist Warren Ellis has collaborated with Nick Cave on various film scores including “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.”, “The Road,” and “Proposition,”
As impressive as their credentials might read, it pales in comparison to the distinctive sounds these three create when they come together. Pitch Perfect PR sums it up in a press release beautifully by stating, “Each takes the lead as the untidy trio trip lightly and jazzily from etude to still life to exploding the air into flames around us with just a violin, electric guitar and trap kit.” They do this all without saying a word.
Tickets can be purchased here, by calling 800-745-3000, or stopping by the box office at the synagogue. The Sixth and I Historic Synagogue is located at 600 I Street, NW.
