Fringe Picks from Gwydion 2012

Fool For All

The thing about the Capital Fringe Festival is that, frankly, there are almost TOO MANY fascinating performances on the schedule. How does a busy theatergoer wade through them all? Deciding which shows to see could take more time than just, you know, buying a random ticket and walking through the door of a random theater.

So... let me do the deciding for you. Ignore the rest of the catalog. Just see any combination of the following ten shows, and you'll be glad you did:

1) Faction of Fools Theatre Company, 3rd Annual "Fool for All"

2) Dog and Pony DC, Beertown

3) Bob Bartlett, Bareback Ink

4) Pinky Swear Productions, Cabaret XXX

5) The Disreputables, Georgeous Raptors

6) The Washington Rogues, Mitzi's Abortion

7) banished? productions, The Circle

8) Field Trip Theatre, Stopgap

9) John Feffer, The Pundit

10) Stephen Spotswood, We Tiresias

It's a terrific (and diverse) menu full of work made by some of DC's brightest theater artists. I myself will be seeing as many of them as I can manage... so if you see me at a show, you can thank me in person for making it easy for you!

Since you're deciding for us, what was your criteria for building this list of recommendations?

Personally, I am looking forward to the new operas. I just saw something about a Stephen King opera? and the is another one called Fallen Angels. I listened on the composers website it sounded great. So many interesting stuff this year.
