I set up a Skype interview with Brooklyn (by way of DC) artist Davis McLane Connelly about his upcoming show at The Fridge gallery in Eastern Market, Individuation. Individuation is a Jungian concept from the analytical psychology field - the process in which the individual self develops out of an undifferentiated unconscious ... whereby the innate elements of personality, the different experiences of a person's life and the different aspects and components of the immature psyche become integrated over time into a well-functioning whole (wiki).
Eleven drawings of sesame street characters, bunnies, teddy bears and others will be shown as part of the exhibit. Davis uses techniques like tonal realism to create charcoal and chalk artworks that are so life-like it's difficult to discern the difference between a photograph and his drawing.
The Fridge is at 516 1/2 8th Street SE, visit The Fridge site for directions and details about the show.
