Salon Contra: "Go For Gold!" with Gesche Wuerfel and Al Miner

Gesche Wuerfel spoke about her exhibit "Go For Gold!: The Transformation of the Lower Lea Valley" with Al Miner at Salon Contra a couple weeks ago. You can still see the exhibit at the Civilian Art Projects (1019 7th Street, NW) until Saturday, March 20!

The photographs document the conversion of a suburb of London into the site for the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Gesche Würfel’s multi-year project Go for Gold! depicts the transformation of London’s landscape in preparation for the 2012 Olympic Games. A trained urban planner, Würfel began the project in 2006 as an investigation into globalization and how it disrupts relationships between residents and their natural and built environment.
