Glow Sessions on the Pink Line HQ Terrace: Cigarette

The opening band for the evening was Softspot. (Photos by Matt Dunn.)

Sean Peoples is someone whose musical opinion I hold high. Though I love listening to music, I don't have time to follow it as deeply as I'd like so I depend on music geniuses like Sean to tell me what's what in the music world, and especially in DC music. So when he told me that he was giving his highest recommendation to a young, new DC band called Cigarette, I straightaway put them at the top of my list of bands I wanted to feature in a series of mini warm weather concerts I've been hosting on the Pink Line HQ terrace. We're calling these little concerts Glow Sessions because the glow of evening light during the concerts creates a magical musical experience under the stars. Plus it's an opportunity to shine a light on local up-and-coming musicians. (See session with Margot MacDonald earlier this summer here. With sparklers!)

We sit under the stars and moonlight on warm evenings and listen to the music. Not much talking. Just a little chatter between songs, usually about how much we liked the song that was just played. It's so beautiful and makes me so happy to be alive.
