About This Event

EMERGENCE
ENVIRONMENT

EXHIBITION

WASHINGTON, DC

We are seeking your support in the form of a charitable donation, for a very special forthcoming exhibit. The one-woman show, Emergence, is the work of the much-awarded artist/architect Georgia Goldberg. The show will be one of the largest installations ever mounted at the American University Museum at the Katzen Arts Center, Ward Circle, D.C. The show consists of a single outdoor installation, 128 feet long, 30 feet deep, and at its highest 24 feet high. The project will be installed in April 2010.

We are mounting this show because we believe it sets a new benchmark for outdoor installation art/architecture in Washington, and will make a major contribution to the interpretation of ‘sculpture’ in a highly visible, accessible public location – Ward Circle. The installation will be viewed by thousands of passing motorists and pedestrians every day. Its references to icebergs and tectonic plates call attention to the forces and fragile beauty of our environment, and the necessity of preserving it.
