About This Event
In 2012, the Corcoran Gallery of Art and College of Art + Design will open Richard Diebenkorn: The Ocean Park Series (June 30-September 23, 2012), the first major museum exhibition to focus on the artist's most celebrated series, made between 1967 and 1988. The exhibition has been co-organized by the Orange County Museum of Art and the Modern Art Museum of Forth Worth; the Corcoran is the only East Coast venue. 84 total objects reveal the artist's masterful use of luminous color, his interest in landscape, and his investigations of space, light, and place. Diebenkorn's style evolved over time, and was influenced of academic and art institutions and the relationships developed through them. The Corcoran, as a museum and a college dedicated to "encouraging American genius," is a fitting venue for the exhibition.
