About This Event
The Stamp Gallery at the University of Maryland College Park presents Cliff Evans: Sites and Stations. The exhibition is open to the public January 25th through March 10, 2012 with an opening reception Thursday, February 9, 2012 from 5-7pm. A gallery talk with the artist and Andrea Pollan, Director of Curator’s Office in Washington DC, will take place Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 7pm.
Working in the medium of video, Cliff Evans’ works are a mash-up of unrelated styles that mesh effortlessly. Evans uses a rich variety of imagery sources, such as Northern Renaissance devotional paintings, and blends these into present-day single and multi-channel digital video pieces resulting in cohesive works that portray his outlook on the modern and future worlds.
Evans was born on a commune in Darkwood, New South Wales, Australia in 1977. He has lived in Austin, TX; New Orleans, LA; and now resides in Brooklyn, NY. Evans graduated in 2002 from The School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, MA where he was recently visiting faculty in video arts. Evans is represented in Washington DC by Curator’s Office www.curatorsoffice.com
