About This Event
I'd love to have your company at the reading of my new play, HOT & COLD, commissioned by Theater J as part of its Locally Grown Festival. Tickets are $10 -- cheap at twice the price -- and if you can't swing that, let me know. (I have a secret code.) I've been dreaming and reading and writing and re-writing this play for what feels like forever now, and I'm really excited to share it and see what I've done!
Starring: Jennifer Mendenhall, John Lescault, Michael Russotto, Deb Hazlett, Heather Haney, and James Flanagan
directed by Eleanor Holdridge
dramaturgy by Grace Overbeke
design dramaturgy by Deb Sevigny
In the hot zone of a level-four biohazard lab, two quarantined scientists experiment with a deadly pathogen. At the same time, in the cold chill of an ordinary suburban kitchen, an out-of-her-depth Jewish mother tries her best to prepare and serve Christmas dinner for her son, his Catholic fiancé, and her gruff father... while they negotiate the terms of the young couple's interfaith wedding. When the distinct worlds of the lab and the kitchen begin bleeding surreally together, however, the deeper and more disturbing truth of what they're all experiencing begins to take over... and infect them all.
