About This Event
Leslie Nolan's bold, gestural paintings in her exhibit - “UNEXPECTED” - feature striking new work that captures depth of personality in her figurative characters' private moments.
These provoking graphic images are forged in her signature style – exciting brush strokes and vivid colors - creating a blur between the real and the imagined. While somewhat abstracted, her entirely believable figures live in our time. There is nothing cautious about these paintings. They convey a thrill of raw immediacy, vibrant and authentic.
During studies abroad and a career with the State Department, Nolan lived and worked all over the world. The often uneasy situations experienced in exotic, sometimes unstable places subtly influence her work.
