About This Event

Our Journey to South Africa (2012) by Lawrence Green.

In the summer of 2011, Lawrence Green, Producer and Director of Time Traveling Media, along with his wife, mother, and cousin embarked on a journey to South Africa for vacation. For nearly two weeks, the group traveled along the coast of Cape Town, visited museums and townships in Johannesburg, and encountered wild animals in Pilanesburg. With his camera in tow, Lawrence Green set out to capture the experience.

After our screening, we’ll be led in our discussion by filmmaker and local DC resident, Lawrence Green.

This film presentation was made possible thanks to our collaboration with TransAfrica – the oldest and largest African American human rights and social justice advocacy organization promoting diversity and equity in the foreign policy arena and justice for the African World.

* Suggested Donation: $10. Proceeds will benefit both TransAfrica and BloomBars. Your support of TransAfrica will help give voice to millions throughout the Diaspora who are not heard. Your gifts to BloomBars support our work in the community. Free Popcorn and refreshments provided.

BloomScreen Indie Film Night – is a weekly series of independent and foreign films, accompanied by discussions with filmmakers and other experts.

Volunteers wanted! Have a suggestion for a film? Know a local filmmaker who wants to screen their work? Want to lend a hand? Email jonathan@bloombars.com with your ideas.
