Santiago Rodriguez Recital

About This Event

Santiago Rodriguez, first-place winner in the 1975 Kapell International Piano Competition, has been described as "a phenomenal pianist" by The New York Times and "among the finest pianists in the world" by The Baltimore Sun.

His program will include works by Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Debussy and selected Spanish works.

Highlights of his lengthy concert career include performances at Carnegie Hall and Alice Tully Hall in New York; at Queen Elizabeth Hall in London; at Schauspielhaus in Berlin; and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC. He has performed internationally and throughout the United States with major symphonies and has performed as a chamber musician with the Guarneri Quartet, Ruggiero Ricci, Walter Trampler, Ransom Wilson and the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center among many others.

A former member of the UMD School of Music piano faculty and current piano department chair at the University of Miami Frost School of Music, he is serving as chair of the international jury for 2012 Kapell Competition.
