About This Event

History Highlights Case: Girl Scouts, 1912 - 2012
First Floor, Central Corridor
June 1

Cookies, camping and s’mores—see how Girl Scouting has changed over the past 100 years in a new display at the National Museum of American History. On the 100th anniversary of the founding of Girl Scouts of America by Juliette Gordon Low, this special case will feature objects that speak to the identity of being a Girl Scout, including photographs, uniforms, badges and cookie boxes. Rotating uniforms will allow a glimpse at the 50 million diverse girls and women who have been a part of Girl Scouts of America since 1912. The case will open during the “Girl Scouts Rock the Mall” 100th anniversary celebration in Washington, D.C.
