Banding Together: Battle of the Law Firm Bands 2012
Where |Black Cat
1811 14th Street NW
Washington, DC
About This Event
Lawyers from area law firms and other legal organizations will compete in a hotly contested ninth annual battle of the law firm bands to benefit Gifts for the Homeless, Inc. (GFTH), a non-profit, all-volunteer organization supported by the city’s legal community to help the homeless. The Black Cat, a premier hot-spot in DC’s historic U Street district (1811 14th Street, NW), has partnered with GFTH to host “Banding Together 2012” on Thursday, June 21, from 7:00 pm to midnight. This year, 16 bands will compete on two different stages for the title of “Banding Together Champion” -- with one band will be crowned Banding Together Champion for having raised the most money from the crowd through “Chicago-style” voting (each dollar contributed equals one vote - vote early and often!).
This year, the battle will take place on two stages at the Black Cat, so we expect to rock the whole house! GFTH is also featuring several guest emcees to help with the evening’s festivities, including Kris Van Cleave from WJLA, Amy Morris from WNEW, and members of the Capital Weather Gang, among others. GFTH will use 100% of the money donated to purchase thermal underwear, sweatshirts, sweatpants, hats, gloves, socks, blankets and other essential new clothing items for homeless men, women, and children; the clothing is then distributed to approximately 35 shelters throughout the Washington metropolitan area. GFTH’s goal for Banding Together 2012 is to exceed last year’s amazing total of over $150,000 raised. Each year, GFTH seeks to raise over $1 million through its work on both Banding Together and its winter clothing drive.
