About This Event

What comprises a creative space, an art space, an artist's space? The second conversation will address the importance of existant spaces and non-traditional creative spaces as a very basic and critical alternative to creating new spaces. Let's step back and talk about what we mean when we talk about space. Is the perception of an art space as a stepping stone for developers affecting artists' ideas of an art space?

This talk is a continuation of an impromptu conversation at the 52 O Street studios, held in response to a panel discussion at the National Building Museum entitled "Creating Space for Artists" on 6/27/2012. More here: http://iamyourjoeyramone.com/2012/06/26/the-conversation-about-dc-diy-sp...

In different ways, the NBM talk, subsequent backlash, and the 52 O talk showed the need for open-forum discussion about creating and sustaining creative spaces- this is just the second in what will be an ongoing series of talks.

Open event, free, BYOB, invite friends and anyone interested.

This conversation is hosted in tandem with "Natural Fallacy," a group show at 87 Florida by Aether Art Projects and 229 Collective.
