About This Event
Saturday, July 14, 4:00 pm @ Heiner Contemporary
Please join Margaret Hancock, owner of Margaret Hancock Studio, for a talk about bird imagery in art. Across cultures and throughout time, birds have inspired artists. From cave paintings in Australia, to Audubon illustrations and contemporary depictions like those in "Winging It," Hancock's talk will explore a variety of species, cultures, media and methods of working.
Hancock is the former Curator and Director of Programs at the Virginia Center for Architecture. She also worked at the Savannah College of Art and Design, University of Virginia Art Museum, and National Trust for Historic Preservation. Hancock holds her M.Ed. from the University of Virginia and B.A. in Art History from Duke University.
Winging It will be on view at Heiner Contemporary through July 28, 2012. Heiner Contemporary is located at 1675 Wisconsin Avenue, NW. For more information about the gallery and upcoming exhibitions, email info@heinercontemporary.com or visit the website at www.heinercontemporary.com.
