About This Event
From Sumatra, Indonesia, Nan Jombang’s work is a compelling mix of contemporary movement, spirituality and Minangkabau performing arts traditions (drumming, dance, martial arts). Percussive, persuasive and vital, Rantau Berbisik, by artistic director Ery Mefri, turns social tradition and long-standing Sumatran custom into profound and moving dance. On tour as part of Center Stage SM, an initiative of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational & Cultural Affairs.
