Senior Solo Exhibition

About This Event

The Workhouse Arts Center invited art students from the region (VA, DC, MD) to participate in an opportunity to have a solo exhibition in the McGuireWoods Gallery.

This year's Senior Solo Exhibition will feature Olivier Giron's series titled Threshold Consciousness. The exhibition consists of 12 large prints each with a correlating sound element. The sounds create an ephemeral landscape of weaving thoughts and whispers from the sleepers, intertwining into one consciousness. Speakers throughout the room create the sounds so the viewer does not know which person the voice corresponded, making the thoughts more universal.

Giron is currently pursuing an MFA in photography at George Mason University School of Art. He holds degrees from Rutgers University, where he received a Bachelors of Science in landscape architecture in 2006. Studying environmental science made him conscious of issues we face as we develop, and how we can better relate to our ecosystem. After graduating from his undergraduate studies, he worked in a small landscape architecture firm that focused on a variety of projects. During his time with the design firm he attended the Corcoran College of Art and Design for photography in 2007.
