SUMMARY:GAIA at XII
LOCATION:TWELVE Restaurant and Lounge\n1123 H Street Northeast\nWashington\, District Of Columbia 20002
DESCRIPTION:GAIA LANDS ON H STREET\n\nA Nomadic Tribe of DC Artists May Have Found a Place to Call Home\n\nFollowing two sold-out shows at the Corcoran Gallery of Art\, Gaia\, an immersive pop-up party that is part lounge\, part club and part concert\, is headed to Northeast DC this Saturday\, September 29th. An new partnership with Twelve Restaurant and Lounge at 12th & H streets NE makes this inaugural residency possible and lifts the veil on a hidden roof garden and expansive view of the H Street corridor. \n\nFor its first splash on H Street\, Gaia presents an evocative end-of-summer’s night dream inspired by a poem by Alexa Grey\, titled ‘Untying the K(not)\,’. The evening’s performances will be widely varied: magician David London\, twirling dervish Jeramie Bellmay\, and bubble fairy Jennifer Stephens (collectively known as the Circus of Wonders)\, flutist Kolai\, video artists Lina Almansa and Juan Botero (D’BLEND) percussionist Tom Pipkin\, and dance troupe Uprooted Dance will synergistically augment the infectious grooves of dj Louis P and transform Twelve’s unique green roof into a mystical garden of Eden..\n\nGaia\, an idealistic and innovative collective of dancers\, musicians\, VJs and performance artists\, has long searched for a residency in a local venue. “The feedback from our community has been overwhelmingly positive\,” says director Nicolas Laget of the rooftop sunset chillout event Gaia organized at Twelve in the middle of August. “We would be delighted to make a home at Twelve. Watching the sun set over the green roof while listening to our own blend of live music and chilled-out beats is nothing short of magical.” \n\nFollowing what will undoubtedly be another hugely popular Gaia party at Twelve\, Gaia is also committed to participation in next June’s SUPERNOVA festival in Rosslyn\, VA. “It’s a real honor to have been asked to do this. We can’t wait to be a part of what promises to be an incredibly exciting series of events\,” says Laget. “But for now\,” he adds with a smile\, “it’s all eyes on Gaia at Twelve!”
