About This Event

PostClassical Ensemble's three-week Shostakovich festival begins this weekend at the National Gallery of Art with screenings of two classic Soviet films, directed by Grigori Kozintsev with towering Shostakovich scores:
King Lear (Saturday at 2:30 pm)
Hamlet (Sunday at 4 pm)

The screenings will be preceded by mini-concerts by the Georgetown University Chamber Singers (Saturday), and by soprano Irina Mozleva and pianist Vera Danchenko-Stern (Sunday).
Both screenings will include commentary by film historian Peter Rollberg and music historian Paul Guenther.
