About This Event
Named among the 100 Most Important People in Photography by American Photography Magazine, Dr. Deborah Willis is a prolific photographer, historian, and curator. Her photography and scholarship explore African American culture and the history of black self-representation.
Ms. Willis is currently the Chair and Professor of Photography and Imaging at Tisch School of the Arts, New York University. She has been the recipient of several prestigious honors and awards including a Guggenheim Fellowship (2005), a Fletcher Fellowship (2005), a MacArthur Fellowship (2000), and the Anonymous Was a Woman Foundation award (1996).
Her work is a part of the permanent collections of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (California) Duke University's Center for Creative Photography (North Carolina) and the Avon Collection (New York), among others.
