About This Event

En Tierras Ajenas is a part dance and part storytelling auto-biographical work, which uses parallels between the choreographer’s personal life-narrative and that of his Sephardic Jewish ancestry to embody the universal struggle in searching for a spiritual and physical home. The piece is set to recordings of deep-rooted Sephardic folk music sung in Ladino by the artist’s late Grandmother, Esther Sedacca. En Tierras Ajenas brings this history back to life when Esther’s recordings are accompanied live by her son and esteemed guitarist, Maurice Sedacca. Sebastian is also joined by dancer Heidi Kershaw to bring forth the visceral passion inherit in the music and the personal message carried by its poetry.

For a preview beatiful provided by photographer Yassine El Mansouri, follow the link below: http://lhayat.blogspot.com/2013/02/tierras-ajenas-march-7th-8th-at-takom...
