About This Event
The Swann Street Gallery is having an open gallery June 2, 2013 from 11:00 to 3:00 pm featuring work of the artist Robert E. Kuhn (1918-2000). Robert E. Kuhn was a successful mid-century D.C. area artist who produced a wealth of paintings and sculptures, which will be on display June 2, 2013.
In his early years Kuhn worked as a WPA artist and a toy salesman. Kuhn became best known for his welded steel sculpture, but was also a committed abstract expressionist painter. Some of the distinguished collectors of Kuhn’s work include Harry Belafonte and Ray Charles.
Much of the artist’s work is inspired by jazz music, so we hope you will enjoy a live performance by the Herb Scott Be-Bop Quintet and the Universalist Chorus while you tour the Swann Street Gallery and enjoy this wonderful collection of work by Robert E. Kuhn.
