About This Event

The North Capitol Main Street Art + Music Walk is back for its third year! Previously known as “First On 1st”, this summer’s iconic arts and music festival is bigger and better than ever — featuring four areas for live music and cultural performances at the launch event on August 6 from noon to 6pm in and around 1st Street and Rhode Island Avenue NW, and at least twenty homes throughout the North Capitol neighborhoods of Eckington, Bloomingdale, and Truxton Circle featuring sculpture and other installations for the entire month of August.

The grand finale starts at 4pm in front of Rustik Tavern, with Flamenco dancing to Spanish guitars, a pig roast, and a paella buffet!

The 2011 North Capitol Main Street Art + Music Walk is presented by North Capitol Main Street, Inc. (NCMS, Inc.) — a 501c(3) nonprofit corporation founded in 2003 with the primary purpose of serving as a catalyst for neighborhood commercial revitalization. NCMS, Inc. is a designated DC Main Streets program. Specifically, this volunteer-driven organization was established to revitalize the North Capitol Street area’s historically and culturally important neighborhood commercial corridors.
